The Garden Terraces

SUBTROPICAL QUEENSLAND ARCHITECTURE

48-50A Garden Terrace, Newmarket

From the very outset, The Garden Terraces has been designed with the needs of the resident in mind through timeless architecture and design principles.

These 26 spacious residences draw upon the natural elements to offer thoughtfully-designed, practical and considered living spaces. The building is defined by a facade of masonry ‘breezeblock’ that expresses the architecture, provides visual privacy and filters sunlight for the occupant. It allows a sense of transition from a protected internal environment through to a partially enclosed and protected space to, finally, large, deep terraces that capture the natural sunlight.

This design response mimics that of a typical Queenslander – the filtering of light, breeze and privacy through multiple layered skins. Materials have been carefully selected for their combined structural, functional, environmental and aesthetic properties. Connecting residents is a central, open air atrium with shared walkways, greenery and communal areas which are designed to foster well-being and offer the opportunity for social exchange.

The Garden Terraces is within walking distance of some of Brisbane’s best parks and bikeways, including Sedgley Park and Olympic.
